Default My YouTube "Brand" - Introducing my "Czar of Zonk" channel!

    Hi,

I am a life long hobby guitarist, meaning, I've been stuck in a day job for almost 4 decades. The most cool part of the experience (pun intended) is that my better half got to work at the sacred factory down the street and bring me home some employee guitars.

I can't do cover/bar-band/tribute stuff. I'm left handed (playing "righty") and need a trem for my right hand. From the beginning, I just made up my own music. And, now, with nothing written down, I decided I had better share or it's going with me to the grave some day. Without further ado...

Introducing the "Czar of Zonk" channel...

You can go to YouTube and search "Czar of Zonk" (embedded space, lower case 'o' and upper case for 'C' and 'Z').

In May I recorded 4 sets of original guitar stylings:

    Set 1 (singles) - a tad over 18 minutes: https://youtu.be/gZ0YN_wGEBI

    Set 2 (melodies) - a tad under 40 minutes: https://youtu.be/wXF-1_1ytM4

    Set 3 (blues) - a tad over 22 minutes: https://youtu.be/zjZFqjV5Hl4

    Set 4 (jimi) - a tad under 10 minutes: https://youtu.be/koGekE7wWRk

I've linked them all together a la "end screen", along with "Candy Blues" - https://youtu.be/3bXWQvxCoDo

Well, all in all, it's about an hour and a half of original electric guitar stylings. It is all true / raw / naked / honest. A live performance in a bedroom. Shades of Wayne and Garth. Heather be thy name!

I plan to continue making up new music and I'll post recordings probably every 5 months or so (it's summer now and I'm patching grass seed -- you know, life). Maybe I'll get to play at the Rams Head Shore House some day.

Sorry to PRS - I'm playing a Gretch G5122 for this initial offering. Pretty much most everything to follow will be PRSi.

Oh, yeah, forgot - So, the better half doesn't want my face out there, so I'm wearing a Mardi Gras mask. She wouldn't let me wear the beads! But, the mask just makes this sooooo entertaining.

I sure hope you all enjoy my music. Besides the big life questions, as Frank would say, it's all about the music.

Enjoy, CZ (chuckle, I want to do some kind of glyph in tribute to FZ).

Here in Stevensville it is so frikin' hot out there (although we might get a temp break today) that the last thing I want to do is fire up a guitar amp in a bedroom. Yesterday, I spent the day on the water catching Rockfish and there was barely a breeze. If I were to play guitar, let alone with a band, I prefer to be in a frozen meat locker.

The videos look GREAT! Under the video on the YouTube page if you click "Share" --> Then click "Embed" --> Press the "Copy" button under the embed video code on the right hand side --> Paste it into your thread here on VR, and you will end up with this:

Cool. Thanks. I'll do that for my next "release", which I am guessing will be in Spring of 2019.

I have a little under one hour of a performance piece I am working on, consisting of 9 tracks, the first four are clean tones and the last five are gain tones.

I am playing a Swamp Ash through a line-6 pod-xt-live, recorded through the USB (and video recorded a la GoPro).

There's one problem, that has forced me to put in hundreds of hours of practice, particularly for the first four clean tones, namely -- I SUCK! It is soooo frustrating.

The clean tones, with the Swamp Ash push/pull tone knob pulled, through a clean USB interface, every little flaw to even string buzz, is coming out.

I am highly determined to record the most flawless performance possible.

Oh sure, I could work on and record each individual track separately. But that's cheating to me. I am going to record the full hour, intact, all the way through, in one take. And it will be as flawless as I can make it. Worse, I am challenging myself on each "lick". I'm not letting it be easy. It's going to be as I intend it to be.

I've put in about 400 hours of work (from June through present) and I expect another 600 hours of work before I get this thing published. Every evening after work and every open weekend, I keep working on this piece. I am bonding with my Swamp Ash like none other. It's good.

    Cheers.
