1993 PRS McCarty Trem Prototype
Here is an extremely cool, extremely nice, very collectible, very rare, 1993 PRS McCarty Trem Proto. Serial # 3 17836. Finished in black the guitar comes equipped with vintage style Kluson tuners, Mil-com trem, CTS pots dated the 10th week of '93, untouched solder joints, 3-way toggle, and Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. The McCarty, as a model, wasn't released until 1994. As an extra added rarity, very very few of the early McCartys are seen with a trem. Back in the 90's a few enterprising dealers checked the "Trem Option" box on the order form and were able to get a trem equipped McCarty. Very few were made before PRS put an end to that option. It was felt that a Ted McCarty guitar shouldn't have a trem. It wasn't until 2007 that a limited run of trem equipped McCartys were made available. The guitar also has what appears to be a trem "spring" squiggle done in gold under the clear coat in the trem cavity. Maybe it holds some significance with the fact that the guitar is trem equipped. Again the guitar is in exceptional condition and comes with it's original black tolex case, and trem bar.
